Pv-value

Pv-value calculator

PV-value express the load capacity of the sliding bearings. It is defined as the combination effect of the pressure of the object and the velocity at which it moves on the bearing surface. It is an estimation of the resistance capacity of the material against the frictional heating.
Lower PV value is suggested to be used during design to ensure longer service life of the bearing.
The calculator provide the PV-value (Pressure x sliding velocity) for several cases: Bushing rotation, oscillation and reciprocation; washer thrust rotation and oscillation; and plate reciprocation. It is recommended to check the values of pressure, velocity and pv-value for the studied material.
